Mobility (lower body mobility) with Clare Lim Martin (+Guide: Audrey Lim)
This is a short introductory session to Mobility work, with a focus on the lower body, moving from the squat and fold. Movement language clarification: At sharedspace, we see three main layers to be developed in all movement - Strength, Mobility, and Coordination. This perspective is similar to Katonah Yoga’s three levels of the body, the three floors of the house - Stability, Ability, Vision, but not completely the same. We think of the 2 trinities as different ‘planes’ or ‘dimensions’, perhaps like how there is Bottom, Middle, Top… Left Right Centre… And Back Front Center. Strength, Mobility and Coordination are to be developed across the body. And with regards to lower body mobility, we find that re-introducing a healthy amount of joint compression, supports the body in finding its ‘spring’. If we look through the athletic lens - the lower body is the engine for fast sprints and big jumps.
